About Our Doctors

All of our doctors are Licensed Clinical Psychologists with varied backgrounds. Each provider is a general practitioner treating such common diagnoses as anxiety and depression. However, most doctors also have specific areas of interest and expertise.
Tanisha Bracey, Psy.D.
Tanisha Bracey received her B.S. in Psychology from Howard University and her M.A. in Psychology from New York University. She completed her doctoral studies at Loyola University Maryland, where she received her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology. Much of Dr. Bracey's clinical work has focused on older children and adolescents across numerous settings including residential treatment, community mental health, juvenile detention, and intensive in-home treatment. She has also dedicated a large portion of her training and experience to conducting comprehensive psychological evaluations with youth and adolescents. Dr. Bracey's areas of clinical interest include mood disorders, behavioral disorders, identity development, trauma, and psychological assessment.

Jennie Crim, Psy.D.
Dr. Crim has over 25 years of experience working in private practice with clients with various issues, including numerous adjustment-related problems. She frequently works with clients with relationship difficulties, depression, anxiety, and self-esteem issues. Dr. Crim helps patients with stress, assertiveness, communication skills, and weight management. Dr. Crim believes therapy is a collaborative effort and is practical in her approach with clients. Dr. Crim is also a skilled hypnotherapist and biofeedback specialist. Furthermore, spirituality may be incorporated into the therapy process when requested. Dr. Crim treats older adolescents and adults in individual, couples, and family therapy.

Dr. Crim received her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from The Virginia Consortium for Professional Psychology (The College of William and Mary, Eastern Virginia Medical School, Old Dominion University, in association with Norfolk State University.)

Susan Etkind, Ph.D
Dr. Etkind provides individual therapy to clientele affected by both acute (short-term) as well as chronic (longer-term) difficulties. She enjoys working with children as well as adults. 

With youth, Dr. Etkind has traditionally used a play therapy approach to help children feel more comfortable expressing themselves. She has extensive experience working with preschool and elementary school age children and their families. During the pandemic in particular, Dr. Etkind structures her sessions with youth and their families using a hybrid model, spending about half of each session working with parent(s) refining a variety of parenting skills, and about half of each session working directly with the child.

With adults, Dr. Etkind draws from a combination of CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) and insight-oriented treatments in a manner tailored to best meet a client’s unique needs. She can also help with parenting challenges, either separately or in combination with other forms of treatment.

Dr. Etkind will work in a collaborative fashion with you and your family to help instill confidence, facilitate emotional expression, improve communication and increase coping strategies. When appropriate, Dr. Etkind will also help foster insight into past behaviors to facilitate making healthier choices for the future. She uses an eclectic (mixed and individually tailored) approach, emphasizing an individual’s strengths.

Debra Ferguson, Ph.D.
Dr. Ferguson is a Licensed Clinical and Forensic Psychologist. She received her Ph.D. from The George Washington University, completed an internship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and a post doctoral fellowship at The Yale University School of Medicine.

After serving in the U.S. Army as a Clinical Psychologist, Dr. Ferguson has a continued interest in the behavioral health needs of service members, veterans and their families. She specializes in the treatment of depression, anxiety, relationship issues and life transitions. Her practice includes older adolescents and adults.

Jack Kitaeff, Ph.D., J.D.
Dr. Jack Kitaeff is a licensed clinical psychologist in the Commonwealth of Virginia with over 35 years experience providing direct counseling, diagnostic and therapeutic services to adults, adolescents, couples and families. He is also an attorney. Prior to entering private practice, Dr. Kitaeff served as a clinical psychologist and Major in the United States Army. He also has many years experience serving as a police psychologist for various Virginia Police and Sheriff Departments. Dr. Kitaeff has also served as the Director of Psychology for a major Virginia State Psychiatric Facility. He is an expert in treating depression, anxiety, phobias, and post-traumatic stress disorders, and has extensive experience utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), as well as behavioral modalities such as relaxation therapy and systematic desensitization. He has considerable experience working with military and police populations, as well as performing pre-employment psychological screening. He also has experience working with bariatric patients contemplating weight loss surgery. He is a Diplomate in Police Psychology from the Society of Police and Criminal Psychology. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Legal Medicine.

Dr. Kitaeff obtained his BA degree in Psychology from the City University of New York, his MS in psychology from the State University of New York, and his PhD from the University of Mississippi. He completed an APA accredited clinical psychology internship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He received his JD degree from the Antonin Scalia School of Law at George Mason University, and completed a legal externship at the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia.​

Jeanne Marquis, Ph.D.
Dr. Marquis provides individual psychotherapy services to adults (age 18 and over) for a variety of issues. These include depression, anxiety, relationships, self-esteem, adult attention deficit disorder (ADD), adult children of alcoholics (ACOA), codependence issues and substance abuse. She also works with panic disorders, death and grief, health issues and mood disorders.​

Susan Murdock, Psy.D.
Dr. Murdock specializes in working with children, adolescents, and families. She works very frequently with depression, anxiety, and attention deficit disorder (ADD). She is also well versed in treating adults with mood disorders and with divorce or separation issues.​

David W. Ruxer, Ph.D.
Dr. Ruxer has a background in behavioral medicine and cognitive therapy with adolescents and adults in individual, group, and family therapy. Hypnosis and biofeedback are often provided for such issues as weight control, smoking cessation, phobias, sleep problems, headaches and stress management. Dr. Ruxer frequently works with workman's compensation cases and pain management as well.​

Steven Tunick, Ph.D.

Dr. Tunick works with numerous types of disorders. He treats depression, anxiety, phobias, relaxation training, work related issues etc. Dr. Tunick does individual, group, family, and couples therapy for people 12 years of age and up.

Diane Wagner, Ph.D.
Diane Wagner received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from George Mason University. She completed her internship at the VA Boston Healthcare System with specific training in geropsychology (psychotherapy with older adults), PTSD, and neuropsychology. She received postdoctoral training in geropsychology at the Salem VA Medical Center.

Dr. Wagner uses evidence-based treatments for adults and couples with a variety of concerns including PTSD, anxiety, depression, panic, phobias, relationship concerns, insomnia, and chronic pain. She also provides treatment specifically for aging concerns including life transitions (e.g., retirement, role changes, health-related adjustment), caregiver support, grief, and bereavement.

Dr. Wagner employs a collaborative, humanistic approach using evidence-based treatments including motivational interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), CBT for insomnia, CBT for chronic pain, Prolonged Exposure (PE) for PTSD, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD, Emotion-Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) for depression. Additional evidence-based treatments specifically for older adults include Dignity Therapy, Caregiver Support, Reminiscence, and Life Review. Dr. Wagner has presented to older adults and clinicians on various topics, including advantages of aging for psychological health, caring for yourself while caring for another, mindfulness and health, and the psychology of grandparenting.
